Castiel Novak is head over heels for his best friend Sam Winchester. But when Cas is faced with the dilemma of having no place to live while going to college, Sam being the great guy that he is, suggests that Castiel move in with his brother, Dean. Which is tiresome to say the least. Dean is arrogant, loud, intrusive and he makes fun of Castiel. Will Cas be able to get Sam to fall for him? Or instead will he fall for Dean? Or will they just be...Roommates.
Dean would never admit to anyone, but the Tuesday and Thursday nights when they’d log in to the latest (and greatest) shooter – Croatoan, were the best part of his week. With Sam working at Stanford and Dean working for Bobby, it was the only time they really got to hang out - and the fact that they always seemed to end up playing with two other brothers - well, that was just a bonus! "Cas, I've been enrolling me and Sammy in schools since I was twelve. I think I can handle it." Cas is frowning. "It's not a matter of--handling it," he says. "The principal will be more receptive and helpful to you if she believes you to have a parent or guardian who is actively concerned with your welfare. I want to make sure she understands you are important." Dean does not get a warm squishy feeling in his chest. In which Dean is de-aged, Claire and Emma are simultaneously the worst and best sisters ever, and Cas really deserves a hug.
“I think we should have a garden,” Cas says.
Dean looks up from his beer. He hasn’t had that much to drink, but Cas still has a vague look of unreality about him, a splash of living color that doesn’t fit in the bunker’s echoing stillness. Dean didn’t hear him coming. A lot of the time, Cas is so unobtrusive it feels like Dean has the bunker to himself, with Sam away.
Dean shakes his head to clear it. “A — garden?” he repeats.
The world is ending. Maybe. If it ever gets around to it. The team that's supposed to save it? One vessel of Michael who can't stop lusting after his kind-of-human best friend, one vessel of Lucifer determined to better the world via feminism, health food, and docu-dramas, and one fallen angel who still can't turn the shower on without help. So yeah, things aren't really looking so hot for Team Free Will or, you know, the entire human race; and it would be a whole lot easier for Dean to hold it together if his dumb little brother would get his priorities sorted out enough to stop trying to give him sex tips. Set mid-season 5.
So what if Dean hates Valentine's Day? It's apparently some magic pocket in time where anything and everything is possible, even gaining the attention and affection of one Castiel Novak. Dean is going for it. Although maybe Seventeen Magazine isn't the place to get ideas.
Somehow an easy-going plumber and an awkward anthropologist can find a way to meet right in the middle.
Sam's too busy to pick up Sarah's engagement ring from the jeweller’s. Enter Dean. He minds just a little, and then not at all.
Cas sees hundreds of faces every day, but there's only one that he really cares about.
Dean Winchester's dealt with enough lately--averting a would-be Apocalypse, losing his brother to law school all over again, the dying job market for hunters. But getting paired with a grumpy, know-it-all asshole named Castiel Novak for his next hunt? Day one-- Dean's already sure one of them's not gonna get out of this alive.
