Bucky may have bitten off more than he could chew with this job, he thinks, as he ambles along the sidewalk to the cafe after leaving campus. He is running off the fumes of exhaustion and hasn’t had more than 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep in the past week. Between his students and his thesis, he knows that it’s foolish to try so hard to hang on to his barista gig, but DC isn’t a cheap place to live and Bucky can’t live with other people.
Bucky is just trying his best, despite being a human disaster.
There are flowers on Sam Wilson’s doorstep. The flowers are from Bucky. Sam isn't exactly sure what that means.
Sharon really cannot believe how stupid these two can be.

Three times sam took Bucky out and one time Bucky took Sam out.
The first chapter is shortly after Endgame. Then a time skip to events between/after Ep. 1.06 of TFAWS.
Or where Sam and Bucky get together after Tony's funeral but Bucky runs away before they can talk about it.
Wherein Bucky is jealous of himself, the other Bucky is very confused, and Sam is frequently exasperated. Featuring time travel, kidnappings, and way too much discussion of destiny, love, and the self.
A tendril of something joyous and sweet circled in Sam’s chest, threatening to bust out in a beaming smile. He managed it down into something closer to a smirk. “Are you mother henning me right now?”
But Bucky didn’t rise to the jab. His expression stayed open and concerned. “Someone’s got to. You just signed up to be the first responder to the world at large, and you play it like No Big Deal. You need to have someone looking out for you.”
There it was. That camaraderie. That Brothers In Arms Mentality. It was wonderful, and it was awful, and it was why Sam loved him and why he wouldn’t ever dare say it out loud.
OR, the one where Sam inherits the Avengers Compound and decides it's time to put together a new team.
Easier said than done.
Once upon a time in a kingdom far away. Sam Wilson is a young officer of the King’s Royal Navy when his ship encounters a heavy storm and capsizes, drowning all of those on board except him. All he can clearly remember of the tragedy is waking up on a beach, a strong grip on his arm and a memory of steel blue eyes and a dazzling smile.
Fifteen years later, the truth about that night is finally revealed.
After the fight in New York, Sam needs some time to recuperate from the confrontation with the Flag Smashers. He decides to take the Paul & Darlene out to the ocean, and on Sarah‘s suggestion, lets his cyborg partner tag along, too.
Just a couple of guys, alone on a boat, for two weeks. What could possibly go wrong?
After the bar fight goes viral Bucky is forced to make some readjustments. On a whim Sam decides to invite him to Louisiana to spend some time with his family. And hopefully keep him out of trouble in the process. They may end up getting more than they bargained for.
“I guess I’ll get going too, then,” Sam says.
“What?” says Scott. “You’re going to go back to yours?” He looks faintly horrified.
“Yes, should I not?” Sam asks slowly.
Scott wrinkles his nose. “Well, it’s your sister, man.”
Sam’s stomach drops. “What?” It’s his turn to say it, harsh and shocked. Maybe he shouldn’t be surprised. He’s had the thought before but pushed it away. He has seen Bucky flirt with Sarah, and Sarah not exactly spurn his advances — quite the opposite, in fact. It’s not like he thought Bucky had taken Sam warning him off seriously, but Sam hadn’t taken the flirting seriously, either. Hadn’t wanted to.
“Awkward,” Scott says, and then laughs, a mix of grossed-out and amused. Scott just thinks that for Sam this is the horror of realizing your best friend might be going to sleep with your sister. Not the pain of your best friend, who you are secretly in love with, taking your sister back to the apartment you share with him to sleep with her.
On a night out, Bucky and Sarah leave together. Sam fears the worst.
