John Sheppard is an ambitious law student who takes Patent Law to make himself know to the professor in the hopes of scoring a position in the professors law firm. Rodney McKay is an attorney and an adjunct professor (J.D., PhD's Mechanical Engineering and Astrophysics) who teaches John's class. John smirks, Rodney berates students and they fall in love.
