“Hey! Hey there,” Bucky says, trying to sound soothing as he crouches down, holding out his right hand towards the obviously terrified kitten. She pauses her frantic scrambling, turning a pair of shocked blue eyes towards Bucky as he drops to his knees in front of her, letting her examine his empty hand.
“See?” he says, grinning as the kitten’s ears twitch in curiosity. “It’s okay. I’m not gonna hurt you.”
