About half of the population had a soulmate, and some of the things they wrote on their skin showed up on the other ones in the same place. Not all got transferred however, so holding conversations was practically impossible. Yuuri and his soulmate had tried a few times in their teens, but it got chopped, and some messages never came through at all, leaving for strange conversations and a risk of misunderstandings.
Luckily, Yuuri’s soulmate wrote a lot, even though most of the things that got through to Yuuri were doodled hearts, strange sketches, phone numbers and appointment notes. Yuuri wasn’t sure if it was because his soulmate was forgetful, or if they just didn’t know how to work their phone calendar, but they wrote down a lot of appointments on their arms.
“We’re just done with our last job, leaving the hospital now,” Phichit answered, putting his own seatbelt on as Yuuri steered the ambulance out towards the main road. “You got a new one for us?”
“Yes, a feral alpha on S:t Sigferd Street, by the park. Doesn’t seem to speak English,” the dispatcher reported, the information showing on the touch screen in the car. Yuuri didn’t look, simply guidning the car towards the address. After spending four years as a paramedic in this city, he knew the roads well. “Can you take it?”
“I thought we had arranged the bedrooms already?” Mamoshka said, and Victor looked up with raised brows.
“You have?” he asked. “Who am I sharing with then?”
“I assumed you wanted to share with Yuuri,” Mama said, and Victor felt his stomach flip. “You always did before.”
“I-,” Victor said, and felt his cheeks heat. He pushed down his scent as far as he could, to mask his mixed emotions. “Yeah we did.”
“So, that will be good then,” his Mama said proudly. “I know you haven’t seen each other in a while, but you always got along so well. I’m sure it will be good to reconnect.”
“Yeah,” Victor said, and focused back down on unpacking the food, and trying to calm his racing heart. How was he supposed to survive sleeping in the same room as Yuuri Katsuki for a full week?
“What do you want!?” he snapped, and then his eyes grew wide as he was met with Lord NIkiforov’s surprised gaze.
“I am starting to suspect you simply like pinning me against things,” the alpha said, sounding breathless. Yuui felt heat rush into his cheeks as he stepped away, stuttering as he blinked.
“You startled me! I thought someone was following me!” Yuuri exclaimed, and the surprised and amused expression fell from Lord Nikiforov’s face.
Or - Four times Mr Yuuri Katsuki pins Lord Nikiforov to a wall, and one time he returns the favour.
“A fortnight,” he offered, and Victor met his gaze head on, feeling a thrill race up his spine. “Surely father would be able to sustain himself for a fortnight. The servers are here, his friends are, and I am sure that if they knew you wanted to go, they would happily help in keeping father company.”
“He would complain terribly,” Victor pointed out, but Yuri only shrugged.
“What do you say little brother? Some adventure would be nice, would it not?” Yuri tempted, and with a cocky grin reached out his hand. Victor took a deep breath, and impulsively reached out and shook on it.

“You like him!” he says, and Victor has a harder time pushing down his blush this time because it’s sort of true? He’s only spent twenty minutes with Yuuri but there’s something about him that just makes Victor’s heart race.
“There is going to be a war, Yuuri,” his mother says calmly, reaching out her hand with her palm up. Yuuri takes it, hoping to find comfort in the contact. He doesn’t. He only feels cold and empty He feels as if he’s left without any means to defend himself. “There will be hard times for all of us. Morooka, he can take care of you. You will be well fed and have a good roof over your head. He has status, and hopefully when the war ends, he will help this town prosper.”
“But I—”
“Yuuri,” his father interrupts, and Yuuri looks at him, feeling desperation rise in his chest as they lock eyes. His father looks sure, cold and determined. The first tear spills down Yuuri’s cheek. “You have to be honorable. You have to carry this family's honor. It is your duty as an omega. This is the only thing you can do for our family.”
